Londoners now have the opportunity to cast their votes for the city's next mayor as polling stations opened on Thursday.

With a diverse field of thirteen candidates vying for the position, Londoners are poised to select their mayor for the upcoming four-year term. In addition to the mayoral race, voters will also have the chance to elect both a local London Assembly member and a representative for the capital at large.

Polling stations will remain open from 07:00 to 22:00 BST, with anticipated results set to be announced on Saturday afternoon.

This election marks a significant moment as all voters are now required to present photo identification upon entering the polling booth, ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.

While the London mayoral election garners attention, it's part of a broader spectrum of elections unfolding today across England and Wales.
